The Centre’s work, through to February 2015, focussed primarily on the virtue of gratitude, more specifically, the value placed on gratitude by the British public; the place of virtues in the legal, medical and teaching professions; and the state of character education in UK schools. During the second research phase, through to November 2017, the findings and recommendations from the previous body of work were built upon to explore the virtues of gratitude and service in the professions, education, voluntary sector, families, media, young people and in parents. The current research phase extends previous research and explores aspects of character in the contexts of professions, character development, spirituality/religion and teacher training.
