The Second Annual Conference of the Jubilee Centre for
Character and Values, University of Birmingham Oriel College, Oxford, January
9–11, 2014.
The Jubilee Centre for Character and Values held its second
annual conference on January 9–11, 2014, under the title ‘Can Virtue Be
Measured?’.
The conference was a major success, with Deputy Director
(Research) Prof. Kristján Kristjánsson summarising events in terms of the below
points:
- That social
scientists and philosophers interacted successfully on issues of common concern
- That Jubilee
Centre for Character and Values researchers learnt a lot from established
authorities in the field
- That Jubilee
Centre for Character and Values researchers had an opportunity to present their
preliminary findings to the wider academic community and inform current
discourse
- That platforms
were created for further collaborations at various levels of engagement
- That ideas were
suggested and discussed about the next annual conference of the Jubilee Centre
for Character and Values - leading naturally on from this conference.
