New Research Report from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education: ‘The Children We Mean To Raise’ 4th July 2014 Academic Publications The Making Caring Common (MCC) project helps educators, parents, and communities raise children who are caring, respectful, and responsible toward others and their communities and aims to ultimately embed such values into day-to-day interactions of every school and home. This latest research report presents findings from the study ‘The Children We Mean to Raise: The Real Messages Adults are Sending About Values’ where 10,000 students were asked whether achieving at a high level, happiness, or caring for others, was most important to them. Some of the questions surrounding values in children were explored and guidelines around helping young people be caring towards others in all aspects of their life have emerged from the findings. The study largely showed “a gap between what parents and teachers describe as their priorities for youth and what youth perceive as adults’ priorities.”
