Centre Director, Professor James Arthur, delivered a keynote address titled ‘Parents and Character in the Early Years of Education’ at the II International Conference On Family And Society held in Barcelona. The conference was organised by the Institute for Advanced Family Studies in the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya to mark the twentieth anniversary of the United Nation’s International Year of the Family. Professor Arthur’s paper explored the role of parents as first educators in the development of their child’s character and also discussed the effects of the family on young people’s understanding of the virtues with reference to some of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues’ early research findings.
