Consultation on Youth Social Action and Character Held at St George’s House 9th October 2014 Character and Service Youth Social Action

On Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th September, a consultation was held by Step Up to Serve and the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at St George’s House in Windsor to discuss ‘Youth Social Action and Character’. Representatives from organisations providing youth social action opportunities, as well as young people taking part in youth social action, attended to discuss the link between youth social action and character development. Initial findings from the Centre’s research into youth social action providers’ and young people’s conceptualisation of character were explored in depth, along with the pros and cons of measuring character development and the double benefit.  A statement on character and youth social action will be published shortly.
