On Wednesday 14th January 2015, Professor David Haslam, Chairman of the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence launched the Centre's new report titled 'Virtuous Medical Practice' at the Royal College of General Practitioners. Central to his speech Professor Haslam noted the integral nature of virtues and values in medicine: 'Ethics, values, compassion are not optional extras – to be added on when technical skill, pharmacology, and access have all been achieved. They are central, critical, vital'. The launch event was followed by a seminar.
