At this year’s Community Day on Sunday 6th September at the University of Birmingham, the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, in collaboration with BMOS musical theatre group, hosted various activities, including drama workshops exploring character. Young people involved in the workshops were included in a performance on stage where a large audience gather in Chancellor’s Court. Interactive activities encouraged the general public to think about what character strength is most important to them, their greatest character strength and the things they are most grateful for. Large chalk boards gave people the opportunity to write messages of thanks and particularly asked people how they give back to their local community. In addition, lots of young people wrote thank you letters as part of the Centre’s Thank You Letter Awards, which will be launching shortly for 2016. Throughout the day the Centre engaged with a wide and varied audience and shared its extensive range of research reports and resources with the public.
