On 26th November 2015 the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues held a seminar under the title ‘Practical Strategies for Measuring Character’ at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton Hotel in London. The seminar brought together key organisations and individuals to share best practice for addressing the challenges and limitations of measuring character and to discuss ‘what works’. Various methods and tools for measuring character, and for evaluating the impact of character education programmes and initiatives, were shared amongst the group. Towards the end of the day discussions moved towards what sort of advice should be given to schools about measuring character. Organisations included City Year UK, Yes Futures, Youth Sport Trust and Young Enterprise. Schools represented at the meeting included Brownmead School in Birmingham and Kehelland Village School in Cornwall.
