Director of Partnerships, Dr Sandra Cooke, and Teaching Fellow, Michael Fullard attended the evaluation and planning meetings of the ‘My Character and Values’ project team and broader policy engagement group at the Bureau of Education in Podgerica, Montenegro on 17th and 18th February 2016. This was part of the Centre's ongoing partnership with UNICEF and the Montenegrin team from the Bureau. The meeting heard presentations on the pilot project from the research evaluators, teachers engaged in the project, and from the Jubilee Centre staff. The pilot was introducing a programme of work, inspired by the work of the Centre, in primary schools, looking at character, values and skills. The research presented demonstrated that the short programme had a real impact on children’s understanding and engagement with the materials. The second day’s meeting, led by Dr Sandra Cooke, aimed to plan the next phase of the project, and to agree a staged expansion into more schools, across years, and into secondary schools throughout Montenegro.
