The Centre’s Director of Education, Dr Tom Harrison presented at the ‘Future Prepared: Building Character by Doing in Schools’ event organised by the Scouts on 25th February 2016. The event, held at the Institute of Education in London, formed a debate about how the Scouts and other voluntary sector organisations can enhance schools character education provision. The debate was shaped and informed by the Jubilee Centre’s Framework for Character Education in Schools and individuals were invited to speak about either moral, civic, performance or intellectual virtues. The event built on a joint Scouts/Demos report entitled Learning by Doing (2015) that evidences that both schools and young people want, and value, partnerships between schools and non-formal learning providers.
