David Carr, Professor of Ethics and Education at the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, has published an article entitled ‘Kultura i Edukacja’ ('Education and Culture') in the Polish philosophy journal Filozofuj. The essay explores the key role of education - through formal schooling and/or otherwise - in the transmission of culture and the cultural formation of young and old alike in the nineteenth century poet Matthew Arnold’s sense of ‘the best that has been thought and said in the world’.
