Centre Hosts Consultation on Character and Sport 17th December 2019 Conference

On 12th and 13th December 2019, the Jubilee Centre hosted a Consultation on Character and Sport at St. George’s House, Windsor Castle. The Consultation brought together stakeholders from across education and sport to discuss the roles of physical education, physical activity and sport in character development. The Consultation included presentations from delegates grouped into three themes – character and sport in schooling and teaching, character and sport in higher education, and character and sport in the community. The Consultation aimed to provoke greater inspection and further deliberation of the type of character that sport develops, the difference between participation in sport and consumption of sport, and the role that sport plays as an influence on our understanding of what it means to live a good life. As with previous Consultations, the Centre will publish a Statement on this topic in the coming months.
