Professor James Arthur Meets Education Minister to Advance Character Education

Professor Arthur met Mario Delgado Corrillo, the Secretary of Public Education for Mexico on 7th November together with his team to discuss character education. The Minister is considering adding character education to the national curriculum of Mexico.

Professor Arthur led a seminar introducing various Ministers of Education from across Latin America to the Jubilee Centre’s framework – there is ongoing discussions about the importance of character education. A number of provinces are developing their own framework to promote character.

While in Mexico, Professor Arthur gave two keynote lectures to 2,000 teachers and 60,000 more online. He met the Governor of Jalisco and many other dignitaries, and visited a university that is researching character education.

Professor Arthur visited the Fundacion Azteca in Mexico City to discuss how this major private foundation is establishing schools that emphasise character education. The Chief Executive made an award to him – a silver key with the words ‘character is destiny’ inscribed on it.

He met many head teachers and visited a number of schools while in Mexico on behalf of the Jubilee Centre.
