Centre Staff Attend Portugal-UK 650 Celebration Event at the British Embassy in Lisbon

On 16^th March 2022, Michael Fullard and Paul Watts represented the Jubilee Centre at the unveiling of the Vista Alegre Commemorative 650^th Anniversary Plate in Lisbon, Portugal. In collaboration with Portugal-UK 650, the Jubilee Centre have produced teaching resources intended to develop students’ understanding of the Anglo-Portuguese alliance, to celebrate common history, and to promote the values of the Treaty of Alliance in today’s world – including friendship, peace, respect, trust and honesty. The unveiling event was held at the Ambassador’s Residence and was hosted by Ross Matthews (Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Lisbon) and Maria João Rodrigues de Araújo (President of Portugal-UK 650). The unveiling is one of a series of events organised by Portugal-UK 650 to celebrate 650 years of the Treaty of Tagilde (10th July 2022) and 650 years of the Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Alliance (16th July 2023) between Portugal and the United Kingdom. Portugal-UK 650 is co-ordinated by the University of Oxford and with the support of more than 50 partner institutions.

The event will include keynote speeches, policy and practitioner panels, interactive sessions, and opportunities to connect with a wide range of professionals and experts in the field.

Free resources:

There will be multiple free resources available for you to take away at this event. We will be launching a new workbook, based on research funded by the Society for Educational Studies, for use by careers guidance professionals and character educators to help students consider who they are, the character traits they aspire towards, and to align their career choices with this. We will also have multiple other free resources that educators can use within their practice based on over a decade of research at the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues.
