The Jubilee Centre has been awarded a prestigious Nuffield Foundation grant to evaluate the Newswise media literacy programme over the next two years. The Centre will lead the study, working in partnership with the Guardian Foundation, National Literacy Trust and PSHE Association. Newswise, run by the Guardian Foundation, is a UNESCO award-winning primary education programme aimed at improving primary school children’s levels of news and digital literacy in the UK. Dr. Tom Harrison, working with Dr. Gianfranco Polizzi, will lead the evaluation which will investigate the impact of the Newswise programme on media literacy and civic engagement in 9-11 years olds.
