The Jubilee Centre is delighted to announce the commencement of its Cyber-Phronesis research project. Funded by the John Templeton Foundation, the project builds on the Centre’s work on phronesis and applies this to the digital sphere. More specifically, the project will explore whether, how and to what extent a targeted approach to character education can help young people make better ethical decisions online, particularly when interacting and communicating with others. The concept of cyber-phronesis, or cyber-wisdom, has been the focus of Dr. Tom Harrison’s research for several years. His new book entitled Thrive: How to Cultivate Character So Your Children Can Flourish Online will be published in January 2021. The new project will develop and trial an intervention designed to cultivate cyber-phronesis among secondary school students in England.
