Baroness Nicky Morgan of Cotes has been appointed an Honorary Professor of the Jubilee Centre at the University Birmingham. Over the last decade, Baroness Nicky Morgan has held several of the highest offices of state. During her time as Secretary of State for Education, Baroness Morgan introduced a series of policies that promoted character education. These included substantial funding for research and launching the character education awards. Her policies led to new Department for Education benchmarks for character education, and in 2019, character education being included as one of the key inspection areas in the revised Ofsted framework. Baroness Morgan also wrote her first book about character education entitled Taught not Caught in which the work of the Jubilee Centre was widely cited. Baroness Morgan was appointed to the House of Lords in 2020. Baroness Morgan has been a long-term supporter of the Jubilee Centre, and in her role as an Honorary Professor will continue her research into communities of character.
