The Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues is pleased to announce the formation of the Global Forgiveness Network (GFN), a new international community bringing together forgiveness researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from around the world. The Network has been established to create a space where those working on forgiveness can connect, exchange ideas and experiences, and develop opportunities for collaboration. It will seek to strengthen understanding of forgiveness across research, policy, and practice, while exploring its potential contribution to individual and societal flourishing. The Network is supported by funding from the Templeton World Charity Foundation (TWCF).
The GFN will also work closely with the recently established Global Character Alliance, recognising the important connections between forgiveness and the wider field of character and virtue.
The formation of the GFN responds directly to the findings of the Discover Forgiveness Landscape Review
The Landscape Review mapped current work in forgiveness research, policy, and practice internationally and highlighted the value of greater coordination and collaboration across the field. In particular, it identified opportunities to connect those working in different countries and disciplines, strengthen the sharing of knowledge and evidence, and support the translation of research into practice. The Global Forgiveness Network has been established in response to this opportunity, providing an international platform through which forgiveness champions can build relationships, share learning and work together to advance the field.
New funding to support the next phase of Discover Forgiveness
The Network forms part of a new phase of work supported by TWCF, which has awarded the Jubilee Centre funding to maintain and develop the Discover Forgiveness website, build a global community of forgiveness champions, and undertake a range of strategic initiatives to promote the science and practice of forgiveness internationally.
The GFN will build on the momentum created through the Discover Forgiveness campaigns and the Discover Forgiveness website, which provides resources and information designed to increase understanding of forgiveness and its potential contribution to human flourishing.
The new funding will provide an opportunity to develop this work further – connecting people and organisations already active in the field while creating opportunities for new voices and collaborations to emerge.
Join the Global Forgiveness Network
The Global Forgiveness Network will officially launch online on Monday 9th November 2026, from 2.00–3.00pm (GMT).
The launch will provide an opportunity to hear more about the Network, meet others working on forgiveness around the world, and discuss how the community might develop in the years ahead.
Researchers, practitioners, policymakers and others with an interest in forgiveness are warmly invited to join.
Those unable to attend the launch can also use the form to join the Network and receive updates about forthcoming meetings, events, news and opportunities to get involved.
