Dr. Shane McLoughlin is an Assistant Professor at the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues. On the MA Character Education programme, he leads the Research Methods in Character Education and the Character Education Dissertation modules. Shane is an experienced teacher, having taught in HE since 2015 across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in psychology, education, and criminology. He also co-created the Jubilee Centre’s Practical Wisdom in Professional Practice CPD course. His teaching and mentorship of others has gained him external recognition as a Senior Fellow of Advance HE.
Shane’s published research traverses philosophy, psychology, education, and criminology. His primary research interests lie in value clarification, the intersection of character and careers education, professional ethics, the ethical adoption of emerging technologies, and individual differences.
At the Jubilee Centre, Shane is relied upon for his expertise in quantitative research methods, statistics, and psychometrics across a wide range of large-scale projects. Shane’s research contributions have also been recognized externally. He is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, an Editorial Board member at The Psychological Record, and was awarded the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science Early Career Mentorship Award in 2021. He currently supervises two PhD students within the School of Education.
