Rebecca is an associate researcher with the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtue. She joined the centre in December 2024 and is involved in several ongoing research projects.
Rebecca has over 18 years’ experience working in education, specialising in early years. She is a former classroom teacher and previously led the early years specialism on the primary PGCE at the University of Warwick. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, has a Master in Research (Mres) from the Institute of Education and recently completed her PhD at the University of Birmingham exploring ‘understanding and supporting self-regulation in the reception classroom’.
Rebecca’s research interests include the practical application of positive pedagogy to support self-regulation in schools and initial teacher training; how the cognitive shifting necessary for self-regulation connects with intentional virtuous behaviour and how supporting the development of self-regulation in the early years can also lay foundations for the development of character and virtue.
